Travel Manager

Just realized today that it’s been far too long since we’ve posted on the blog. We’ve had a pretty manic few months so here’s the latest:

1)   We’re working with National Express UK to provide Real-Time Passenger Information and Schedule Reporting in part of £2m+ contract with fuel management and GPS tracking. TravelManager will play an important role in vehicle and driver allocation so expect some updates on the schedule service module.

2)   We’re hiring more developers to join the team on TravelManager to help with all the additional features we’ve been designing over the last few months. TravelManager will come out of a beta release before the end of 2010 with official launch in 2011.

3)   New uTrack website in development for launch in October and another TravelManager website with all the features to launch later in the year.

4)   We’ll be attending the Travel 2020 in London next week and the Coach and Bus Show in Dublin in November.

5)   We’re working with several local authorities in the UK with some major announcements to be made in the coming weeks icon smile Latest Updates from the TravelManager Team

As ever we look forward to any comments and feedback you may have about TravelManager.

We are currently working on a number of enhancements to the online charter quotations widget for the North American market.  These include the ability for an operator to establish their base / gateway city and a radius that they are willing to accept quotes for.

Zooming in – you can see the radius information better.

Customers can then visit your site and get information about each office and in which radius you operate within.

If you have a number of satellite offices where the radius from each overlap then the engine will work out the closest office to send a quotation to.

This is functionality based on end user feedback and we anticipating having the first phase of this radius capability in place by the weekend. We will then focus on additional reporting requirements and or widgets for your own websites so you too can share this information with your customers.

All of this information is driven from your profile screen – so please ensure it is updated with correct data – so you can take advantage of this as and when it comes online.

Yesterday I downloaded Google Earth to my iPhone – and first impressions are WOW!

Get the Flash Player to see this content.

Think about the possibilities in an industry like ours?

[1] Driver Router learning – so your new recruit can learn the route not with a boring sat nav or paper print out but with proper video footage of the route as its being driven.

[2] Selling tours – describe your tour in detail and allow the customers to “preview” the route taken and see whats in install for them.

[3] Never get lost again – We have all heard about the HGV dirver following his sat nav religously and getting stuck down a country road – maybe this becomes a thing of the past – where the driver can “see” around the corner.

Then there are the generic GPS services

[4] Tracking your driver / vehicle in real time and being able to visualise exactly where they are.

[5] Pushing context sensitive information to your driver – such as nearest ATM, nearest petrol station etc..

The realms of possibility are truly amazing – it just needs some imagination icon smile The future of GPS is nearly here...

So here at TravelManager – we’ll start imagining for you – but if you have any ideas that you think we should look into further, let us know.
