We have a new article published on how to increase your online presence.
The first Top Tip: SEO / Search Engine Marketing states:-
“Having a brilliant website does not always lead to traffic and conversion success. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a collection of techniques that help sites achieve strong search engine rankings through Google, Yahoo, and other search engines. The difference in traffic count from one site to another is multiplied tremendously by attaining first page position in common Google searches, and preferably a top 5 position. New research suggests nearly half of online consumers use search engine to search for products.”
Let me elaborate.
Search Engines only show ‘relevant‘ results for the text that the user entered. So if you have spent a lot of time and money getting a website built which has no ‘real world’ text on it then it is unlikely to be well presented in the results. For Example:
If you offer coach tours in the lake district then make sure that all of the city / place names are somewhere in your site and that they sit well with the terms that people are most likely to search for. eg. Tours in the Lake District, Coach Tours around Windemere, Coach Tours around the beautiful lakes etc.. and make sure that those terms are used fairly liberally.
Also make sure the titles of the webpage reflects those terms – Don’t have the title on every page the same when they obviously try to convey different information. Make sure the titles are unique and relevant.
Then make sure your keywords on the page reflect the content.
Also make sure you have at least oone page for every search term you want to ensure a good listing for. This could be as little as one or two and grow over time.
Effort placed in doing this well will pay dividends in the future – and you are in the business for the long haul aren’t you?
If you would like more information on how to maximise your web ranking in the search engines – call us and we will be glad to provide you with more information / resources.

What with the credit crunch gettings loads of press of late we are seeing a number of consumers and small business tighten their belts. During periods of economic uncertainty its important to continue to differentiate your products and services so that you not only maintain your current revenue streams but also grow them. The quickest but more importantly best way to differentiate is with good old fashioned customer service and satisfaction.

We have had a significant number of chauffeur companies adopt travelmanager, so many in fact that we have decided to build a specific version just for the chauffeur industry. It is currently in a closed trial with a number of our subscribers and will be launched to the community within the next 3 weeks.
Chauffeur Manager has been aimed at small driver / owner businesses all the way up to large chauffeur companies running hundreds of vehicles.
We have a number of airlines using the application right now and we believe this is the way forward for the VIP end of the market in such a competitive industry as air passenger transport.
If you interested in learning more about Chauffeur Manager drop us a line.

So with that we would like to welcome Megan to the team. She is our newest recruit and will be focusing on the tutorials and training guides for the next couple of months.
If there are specific “How To” guides that you would like to see then please dont hesitate to contact us.

Further to my post yesterday. The bulk edit facility will also alert you as to which jobs do not have drivers or vehicles assigned (See the screenshot below)
You can also filter in ascending / descending order on any of the columns and you can move the columns around to fit in with how you want the information to be presented. So for example if you want the information shown with the drivers name first and you want to group all of the drivers work together you can do just that with 2 mouse clicks. (See screenshot below)
Likewise if you want to order by Job (so you group all services together and private hires together) you can (see screenshot below)

This morning we rolled out a number of new pieces of functionality which ca be seen from within the Account Information section of MyAccount.
In the screenshot above (click on it to see a larger image) you can choose your “Out of Hours” / “SMS Alert” mobile number (See icon No. 1). This is the number that all SMS alerts get sent to .
You can then choose the times of the day where it is acceptable for you to receive an SMS alert (See icon No. 3). In this example we have chosen the times to be between 9am and 5pm.
Any quote which comes from your website using the online quoting widget will then alert you if it comes in between these times. If the quote comes in outside of these times then it is stored up and an SMS is sent the following day at the time set in the “Alert Time Period (Start)” field.
You continue to receive email alerts at the exact time that the quote is sent.
You can also now set your default VAT / Sales Tax rate (See icon 2) – which will be used on all Private Hire / Chauffeur quotes given. You can change these tax rates on each quote from hereon in – so work for charities or private hire work can be given a zero tax rate and chauffeur services can use the standard 17.5% VAT rate in the UK.
We have also made some cosmetic improvements to the quoting tool (on the “Create Quick Job” for now) which auto updates the quote price as the form is being filled in (See icon 1 in the screenshot below). We have also changed the layout of the journey times to accommodate the three main journey types (Single Trip, Return Trip where the vehicles comes back for the return pickup and Return Trip where the vehicle stays for the duration of the trip) – See icon 2 in the following screenshot.
Depending on which journey type you choose the time / date fields are accessible or not (See icon 3 in following screenshot)
We hope you enjoy these new features as much as we enjoyed developing them.
As always, if you need any help in using these new tools just give us a call on 01452 417 567 or drop me an email at mike@travel-manager.co.uk
