The TravelManager team in Ireland attended “DevDays 2009″ to meet with other iPhone developers as well as Apple Engineers. It was a great opportunity to meet with fellow iPhone developers and we’ve even got a few people interested in developing on the TravelManager API’s!!

Everyone really liked the look of our iPhone App so we thought we’d share it a few pics with you:

One developer in particular has created an iPhone App for Dublin Bus timetables so that was really interesting for us to meet someone providing solutions for the same industry. More on that in the next few weeks as we start to finalize on iPhone apps (yes we’re going to have more than 1 App).
The conference highlighted the need to have a few Apps in the iTunes store and also for focus on multilingual offerings as most iPhone users really like to work in the native language (so lucky TravelManager can be language independent them )

**We’re thinking about attending WWDC in June as the DevDays 2009 event really highlighted just how huge the iPhone is going to be after the next update in June. Any iPhone developers interested in developing iPhone Apps for TravelManager should join us in attending WWDC before the end of April. (If the interest is high, in even just attending the event in June it makes sense to go as a group??)

I suspect this event is going to be a huge one that could the trip of a lifetime

The BBC has an interesting update on Microsofts next generation operating system once it retires windows.

Currently named, Midori, it has the Internet at its centre and focuses on user mobility.

TravelManager attended the latest Global Passenger Network conference at the end of March and we also presented in Tel Aviv. The event was hosting by Maya Tours the GPN member for Israel and despite my delays out of Terminal 5 in Heathrow I made it to the meeting (only just).
The technology presentation included all the latest news about TravelManager and more importantly how this was going to help GPN not only get more business via the Internet but also provide a tool to market the group more effectively.

All the members are 100% committed to the GPN technology effort and they’ve been providing the translation of the quotation widget for us.

**Even the new Russian member that joined less than 2 weeks ago has already provided the Russian translation!

This morning we rolled out a number of improvements to the platform. They include:

- Netherlands version of the quotation widget
- IMG Shareholders Library Widget (for all IMG related documents)
- Implementation of price per km for our European partners
- AM / PM as well as 24 hours clock for times
- Google Map of all offices and radius on profile screen
- 32 small bug fixes / performance improvements found through new testing process.
- 7 Feedback requests from Users including amendments to the “Quotes Response Performance” report and European Language Quotation Widgets.

This week we also sent a number of the developers on Google Android training as we will be developing widgets for this platform during the next 3-6 months

We have 30 outstanding feedback requests from users. We will be working our way through these during the next couple of weeks as well as focusing significant effort to testing the beta version of our iPhone application
