The new look and feel for the menu bar and the help pages has now rolled to live.

Please provide us with feedback on these changes. We think they make the software easier to use and provide more help getting you started with TravelManager.

We had lots of feedback with regard to the route optimisation functionality that we rolled out last week. We are very excited about some of the ideas that you had for this type of functionality and will start development on a number of them over the coming weeks.

One that we particularly liked is the ability to see the route on a map, get the directions, see the distances between the way points and then calculate the fuel consumption for that particular journey so that you could work out home much that route would cost to run for a tendered service.

We have listened to your feedback and made some changes to the top bar menu system and to the help pages. These changes will be rolling out this evening.

We hope these changes make it easier to find all the functionality within TravelManager.

We have now completed the first phase of the route optimisation module and will be rolling out the functionality this evening. In this phase you can enter in a number of postcodes in any order and choose the start and end locations.

There are 2 possible scenarios to choose from.

[1] The start and end locations are the same and therefore the route is circular

[2] The start and end locations are different and therefore the route is linear / one way.

Once you tell it what type of route you require, the application will provide you with the shortest route.

During tests we have found the accuracy to be around 97% and 100 locations takes less that 10 seconds to calculate and report back the results.

We are working on some new functionality which will enable you to put in a number of postcodes and it will provide you with the quickest / shortest route. This type of functionality is useful for all sorts of situations and not just the bus and coach industry.

We have had requests from everyone from estate agents (wanting to know the best route for putting up / taking down for sale signs) to couriers and bus / coach operators wanting to know how to generate the best / most appropriate route between multiple destinations.

We are currently in the planning phase and will be developing this functionality within the month.

Thank you for everyone who visited us at the Coach & Bus Live 2007 show this week. We thoroughly enjoyed talking to each and every one of you. We learnt a lot from the event and have taken all of your feedback and requests on board and look forward to developing the functionality for you over the coming weeks and months.

Some of the requests we received were:-

  • Ability to calculate the distances on multi-pickup routes
  • Ability to include parking and congestion charges in the quoting variables
  • Ability to do auto-scheduling
  • Ability to do real-time backups of your data on demand
  • Ability to calculate non-journey events for FDR reporting
  • Ability to export invoices and payroll data into Sage
  • Ability to use the solution offline and synch with the server if you are not connected to the Internet at any time
  • Ability to take quotes online directly from customers
  • Ability to present timetables online in your websites
  • Ability to create a website and have it auto updated with your new information

We have taken a note of all of your requests and will add them to the workstack for planning and development where possible over the coming weeks and months.

We have already started development of the first item – distances on multi-pickup routes – as this was an item that a number of your requested and look forward to bringing you this functionality very soon.

We have now gone into the testing phase for the “Vehicle Defect” module. A screenshot is show below (click on the image for a larger view). We anticipate rolling this functionality out within the next 7-10 days.
